About
Rough Mug is a small pottery studio just getting started in Westhampton, Massachusetts. It is part of Sound and Artificer LLC and is owned by Scott, a potter who has been working with clay for a little over three years and has grown to love the slow, hands-on process of making functional pieces.
A lot of Scott’s work is inspired by his love of plants. He makes planters, specialty plant pots, and one-of-a-kind pieces, with a focus on pots for staghorn ferns, bonsai-style plants, cacti, and other plants that deserve something a little more interesting than a standard store-bought pot.
Scott is also happy to bring some of his artwork into the pieces themselves, adding drawings, painted details, and small personal touches when the clay calls for it.
And while the name is Rough Mug, there may be a surprising lack of mugs around here (at least for now).
Everything is made by Scott in his home basement studio in Westhampton MA. Rough Mug is still new, but the goal is simple: to make pottery that feels personal, useful, plant-loving, and a little bit imperfect in the best way. Stay tuned for new pottery releases, and possibly some painting drops in the future.
